Borderlescott can win here again
2:45, King George Stakes, Borderlescott, Win. It’s hard to escape Borderlescott here and he should confirm his superiority over Spin Cycle and Amore Propre as he did in this race last year. The tough sprinters has finished in second in the last two Stewards Cups, he handles the track, a big plus here. Elnawin comes from an in-form yard and comes here with a big chance, upped in grade. However, he too was run all over by Borderlescott in the Palace House Stakes at the start of the season and I would suggest that Robin Bastiman’s stable star is the one to side with. I hope he wins as much as I think he will win.
3:25 Artemis Goodwood Cup, Age Of Aquarius, Win. Several of these met in the Ascot Gold Cup last month, when Age Of Aquarius was second to the shock winner. However, that was a solid Group One performance and prior to that he was second to Profound Beauty and before that Harbinger. He clearly sits proudly as the best of Aidan O’Brien’s current bunch of stayers. The consistent Purple Moon hasn’t actually won a race since 2007 but has still been a great money-spinner for his connections. His attitude in unquestionable and, with Kieren Fallon in the plate, he is sure to get every assistance from the saddle. Age Of Aquarius is down in grade and really should win this race, readily, he is my best bet of the day. (NAP).
In the 5:45 Pizza San Pietro is out again after winning here on Tuesday. Piazza San Pietro has been a revelation of late and will post a big threat if he is also still ahead of the assessor having been placed in his last six starts, winning three of them. Can he defy a penalty?
